You are welcome to the official blog pages for the Agency for Peoples Empowerment (APEM) International!


The primary objective for establishing this site is to mobilise friends of Africa  and development resources  in other  to achieve a poverty- free Africa where men, women, families ,local communities and countries become self-reliant .

The site is also used to increase the  capacity of Small Project Partners that are committed to achieving positive concrete changes in their communities by putting their projects on our site and raise funds for them. These will include  Non Governmental Organisations that  carry out poverty reducing, capacity developing and awareness raising  project activities

APEM INTERNATIONAL   is a legally registered non-profit International  Non Governmental Organisation in Northern Ghana1   and in  SierraLeone at various levels as Association for Peoples Empowerment; and in the USA as Agency for Peoples  Empowerment International.

APEM international has a history of continuous existence and community development work since 1996.

APEM international   has a pool of highly qualified US based Programme Managers  knowledgeable and skilled in programming functions and the international management of  the community initiatives in Africa. The organisation has an 11-man BOARD OF TRUSTEES which , among other
functions , is responsible for the overall policy direction  and delegation of responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the APEM

The organisation has an international ,  flat and participatory decision making structure .The APEM International Constitution is the Default management policy document of the organisation.  APEM International  also has  a Staff Policies and Procedures which is applicable at all levels of the organization.  APEM International has a Gender Audit strategy   , a Financial Management Standing Order and a  HIV / AIDS work place policy , all of which are also imperatively applicable at all managements levels of the organization.

Community Empowerment is the default approach of APEM International. This approach is community led and community driven which has made donor agencies and government institutions want to work with APEM International  . This empowerment approach is an implicit and overriding factor on the APEM International Africa community development philosophy. The organisation facilitates and supports the active participation of people and communities affected by various livelihood problems.

APEM international   is a learning organisation and undertakes regular evaluation of its structures at all levels and programmes  in Africa.
 
APEM International has worked on various community development projects for a period  of 10 (ten) years with Christian Aid , UK; for a period of 3 years  with Action Aid, UK; for a period of 3 years  with 6 (Six) years with Comic Relief, UK;  for a period of 3 years  with DFID
